St. Vincent De Paul Food Appeal

As the festive season fast approaches we have decided as a school to help our local charity, St. Vincent de Paul with a Food Appeal, to enable them to lighten the burden of less well off local families. We would ask all families to please take in at least one item from the list below. Please ensure all food items are ‘in date’ and leave in the school lobby by no later than Wednesday, December 14th. Suggested items are:

Sugar Selection Boxes
Tea and/or Coffee Rice and/or Pasta
Jam(s) Minerals
Cheese (cheese strings) Packets of Peas
Biscuits/ or a tin of biscuits Noodles
Small Cake Potatoes (small bag)
Mince Pies Orange/Apple Juice
Cornflakes/ Rice Krispies Miwadi Juice
Jelly Sweets/or a tin of sweets
Custard Crisps
Beans Red/Brown sauce
Spaghetti Soups
Vouchers for Dunnes/Tesco or a butcher
Tuna/salmon/sardines

Book Fair
Once again a big thank you goes to all the parents and children of the school for supporting our annual Book Fair. This year you purchased at total of €3089 worth of books from the fair! The children enjoyed the many activities which took place during the week including a Buddy Reading Programme, class Doorway Décor and D.E.A.R. (Drop Everything And Read).

Retirement of Mrs. Angela Rankin

A special Mass to mark the retirement of Mrs. Angela Rankin from Knockbridge N.S. will take place in St. Mary’s Church on Wednesday 21st December at 11am. All past pupils, parents, staff and friends of the school are invited to attend this special occasion which celebrates over 38 years of dedicated service to Scoil Naomh Muire, Cnoc Bríde. We would like to extend a welcome to Mrs. Rankin's very first class that enrolled in July 1973 and unbelievably had 48 pupils in it! The Mass will be followed by a presentation to Mrs. Rankin in the school in the Halla Setanta.
A light lunch will then be served.

Recycled Christmas Tree Decoration Competition

The annual Christmas Tree Decoration Competition is fast approaching. The closing date for entries is tomorrow Wednesday, 7th December at 10am. The challenge is for children to make Christmas Decorations out of recycled materials such as egg shells, cardboard, newspapers, plastic and glass bottles, tin cans, milk and juice cartons etc. Many children have already submitted their entries and they are on view in the school lobby. Every year the standard of decorations improves and we look forward to seeing this year’s entries tomorrow.

Folens Christmas Annuals

Enlcosed please find an order form for this year’s Folens Christmas Annual. Every year the Annual proves to be a big hit with all the children offering a range of puzzles, jokes, historical facts, sports news and lots more. The cost this year is €4.00 per annual. The closing date for ordering the annual is Wednesday, 14 December. Please leave all orders into Louise in the school office.
