Raising of Green Flag

Our third Green Flag was raised by Mrs. Rankin on Friday 28th October in beautiful autumn sunshine. A guard of honour was provided by the Junior School as Mrs. Rankin, along with Principal Mr. McDonnell, Bishop Gerard Clifford, Fr. McGinnity and retired principals Mr. Lorcan Ó hÚllacháin and Mr Pat O'Neill and led by piper Paddy Martin, made their way to the flag pole. The school choir conducted by Mrs. Farren, sang a specially commissioned song for the occassion called "Brat Glas".

Mr. McDonnell remarked that it was fitting after so many years of service to the school and the Greenschools Committee, that Mrs. Rankin should hoist the flag especially as she would be retiring at the end of December.
